The Integrated Engineering Design (IED) group at Morrison Hershfield delivers comprehensive engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial clients, emphasizing sectors such as transit, telecommunications, waste management, higher education, and food and beverage facilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all stages of commissioning projects, which may encompass a range of intricate features, including planning, scheduling, and work coordination.
  • Conduct engineering design evaluations, create commissioning scripts and reports, oversee client-site testing, and manage the training of on-site personnel.
  • Develop pre-start-up and start-up procedures for equipment; create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); ensure comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Formulate commissioning test procedures and reports.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to monitor project progress.
  • Compile detailed reports and recommendations aimed at optimizing building operations, including functional checklists, deficiency lists, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submissions, and other documentation relevant to commissioning.
  • Participate in commissioning activity meetings.
  • Collaborate with construction contractors, vendors, and testing technicians.
  • Execute tests and compile results from all testing procedures.
  • Integrate system testing, including Load Bank Testing, and compile all testing procedure results.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for various building MEP systems, including HVAC air and water distribution systems, air handling units, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, UPS, generators, and power distribution units.
Qualifications:
  • This role is remote and requires frequent travel.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering service delivery organization or consulting/design environment, with proven expertise in MEP systems.
  • Experience in Data Center or Mission Critical environments is preferred.
  • Prior experience on a mission-critical facility construction site is advantageous.
  • A Technical/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Licensure as a PE or EIT in Electrical Discipline is a plus.
  • LEED AP accreditation is beneficial.
  • CXA, AABC, or ACG certification is desired.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role, which involves significant documentation and client interaction.
  • High proficiency in technical writing, systems development, and utilization is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation, and operation is a plus.
  • This position may require domestic and international travel.
  • A proven track record in commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance investigations, including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, and/or preventative maintenance, as well as troubleshooting experience for new and existing buildings is essential.
