JOB SUMMARY: The role is pivotal in assisting the department to fulfill corporate objectives, which encompasses high-quality customer order fulfillment and optimizing inventory to minimize Days Sales Outstanding (DSO). This position is accountable for managing and facilitating the execution of corporate category strategies and initiatives within the operational company (OpCo). The individual will support the OpCo sales team with updates on product assortments, respond to informational inquiries, and conduct product cutting and training sessions. Additionally, the role involves driving OpCo-required category initiatives and assortments in alignment with corporate standards while executing recommended assortment modifications and fostering positive relationships with local suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement Category Management and other initiatives within designated categories.
  • Oversee the success of categories and provide overall support for Corporate core suppliers.
  • Engage in communication with planners, suppliers, brokers, sales teams, and customer service.
  • Manage and advocate for local assortments within assigned categories to meet corporate objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with local suppliers and brokers.
  • Offer insights, support, and direction to the OpCo Sales Specialist.
  • Conduct corporate assortment training at the OpCo as necessary.
  • Perform local supplier evaluations and negotiations utilizing corporate best practices.
  • Negotiate and secure supplier-funded customer pricing deviations.
  • Facilitate negotiations and manage local Earned Income programs.
  • Oversee and assess company Earned Income components.
  • Collaborate with supplier Category Captains or Advisors for focus categories as needed.
  • Assist in the inventory depletion process by identifying items for discontinuation and aiding in supplier negotiations for product returns.
  • Drive performance on focus categories and support promotional activities and sales events.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local sales and assist Sales with all inquiries.
  • Manage the creation of new items and vendors.
  • Promote increased sales of Sysco Brand products.
  • Oversee category equities and market pricing to uphold pricing integrity in conjunction with the Revenue Management team.
  • Collaborate and analyze Sales and Gross Profit results of Market Cost Price adjustments with the Revenue Management team.
  • Provide market commodity and industry updates to the sales organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential job functions.
Experience:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a retail, wholesale, or distribution environment.
Working Conditions:
  • The characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of the job.
  • Travel requirements are approximately 5%.
