Job Description

As a key member of the Whole Foods Market team, the Produce Associate Team Leader plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our produce department. This dynamic leader is responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Creative Store Layout and Product Merchandising
  • Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets
  • Assist the Team Leader in analyzing sales, reports, and labor
  • Demonstrate advanced product knowledge and stay up-to-date on new products
  • Maintain good vendor relationships, develop new vendor relations, and ensure all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing
  • Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues
  • Function as the point person and departmental person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader
  • Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution
  • Foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals

  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications
Experience
  • 18+ months retail team member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience
