Job Overview

The Shift Foreman serves as a crucial extension of the Shop Manager's authority, overseeing technicians involved in the repair and upkeep of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Executes supervisory duties to effectively manage staff, including training, planning, delegating tasks, evaluating performance, addressing grievances, and resolving issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and industry regulations.
  • Coordinates equipment, shop personnel, and workload to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Initiates and manages repair orders, schedules warranty services, and performs lot inspections as necessary.
  • Provides assistance to drivers with repair documentation as required.
  • Maintains regular upkeep and cleanliness of the facility, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • Follows instructions and maintains consistent attendance.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, seeing, and hearing.
  • Capable of performing basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 lbs. as necessary.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficient use of computers and software applications.
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to foster cooperative working relationships.
Education and Experience

An Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution; three years of relevant experience and/or training; or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Diesel Technology with one year of related experience; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Certifications

A valid CDL Class A driver's license is preferred.
EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 and 609 must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Work Environment

The work environment may expose the employee to various outdoor weather conditions, vibrations, moving mechanical components, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.

Safety footwear (steel toe or composite) is mandatory.
