Position Overview:

As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the maintenance and engineering operations within our organization. Your role will involve managing the maintenance team, executing preventative maintenance strategies, and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, including technicians and electricians, to ensure effective operation and upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement thorough preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, scheduling regular inspections and repairs to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
  • Equipment Supervision: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all organizational equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Budget Administration: Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasting expenses, monitoring spending, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and codes related to building maintenance, fire safety, and occupational health, maintaining accurate records as required.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement protocols for responding to equipment failures and power outages, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for maintenance projects, overseeing work performed to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, while promoting professional development opportunities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior maintenance or engineering role, preferably within the hospitality or facilities management sector, with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership and management skills, capable of motivating a team and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of building systems and maintenance practices, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills, capable of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in maintenance planning and documentation.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred. Professional certifications may be required based on local regulations.
