Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

The role of a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer involves the comprehensive testing of hardware products and software controls associated with Ion Implanters designed for wafer processing at Axcelis Technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in testing complex electro-mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a team to analyze requirements and design specifications.
- Create and validate test case matrices that encompass all hardware and software specifications, emphasizing customer use cases.
- Formulate and validate installation procedures for hardware and software releases intended for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Operate Ion Implantation equipment and simulation systems to execute hardware and software validations, employing diverse testing methodologies, tools, and applications.
- Conduct thorough investigations of issues encountered during testing, identify root causes, and develop containment, corrective, and preventive measures.
- Compile detailed daily reports documenting all test outcomes and any issues identified.
- Record issues in a Defect Tracking system, providing clear problem statements, root causes, supporting data, log files, and steps to reproduce the issues along with expected behaviors.
- Work in a clean room environment while adhering to strict cleanroom protocols.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail for reporting test outcomes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities for addressing hardware and software failures.
- Capability to identify equipment malfunctions or operational issues and provide detailed reports.
- Familiarity with High-Voltage & High Current Power Supplies, High Vacuum Systems, Electro-Mechanical Robots, and hardware communication protocols.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings for installation and validation tasks.
- Experience with Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and various hand tools.
- Proficiency in soldering electronic components and crimping electrical wires.
- Knowledge in the following areas is advantageous:
- Semiconductor Ion Implant Equipment or related semiconductor technologies.
- Processes and standards within the semiconductor industry.
- Factory automation standards such as SECS/GEM and SEMI.
- Electrical and mechanical design standards.
- Software programming languages including C, C++, C#, and Unix.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for domestic and international assignments.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
