We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrical Engineering Lead to join our team in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Substation Electrical Engineering discipline within our Transmission & Distribution Energy Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Timely and on-budget delivery of design packages relevant to the discipline
  • Responsible for the quality of the package relevant to the discipline
  • Works on multiple projects at the same time
  • Efficiently manages a group of engineers to achieve the above goals
  • Responsible for guiding and mentoring junior staff
  • Provides expert input to projects
  • Identifying gaps in expertise in their groups
  • Reports to management and actively supports efforts to ensure all areas of expertise necessary for successful project delivery have been covered
  • Coordinates interfaces with other engineering disciplines
  • Supports the Project Engineer to achieve overall project goals
  • Represents the project and corresponding discipline in front of the client, in coordination with the Project Engineer
  • Provides support to proposals
  • Supports hiring process
  • Supports the development of the quality management system
  • Timely and on-budget delivery of projects
  • Represents the project in front of the client, when necessary, supported by engineering leads and/or management
  • Reporting and project management activities required by the Company or the client
  • Supports management to achieve organization goals
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or closely related degree from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 7+ years' post-education experience, preferably in Transmission and Distribution systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments
  • P.E. Registration or eligible for P.E. licensing
  • Knowledge of codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
