About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Electrical Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Energy Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality substation designs for our projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-voltage substation design, with experience working in consulting firms. You will be working under the leadership of a Supervising Engineer and will be part of a multi-discipline team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design efficient and reliable high-voltage substations
  • Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
  • Assist the Estimating Team in preparation of estimates and project proposals
  • Prepare substation plans, profiles, and detail installation drawings
  • Conduct studies and design calculations using software such as WinIGS, ETAP, SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP
  • Provide input into improvement ideas during project execution and close-out
  • Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment and evaluate proposals from vendors
Requirements
  • degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • 3-5 years of working experience in high-voltage substation design for renewable developers and electrical utility clients
  • Eligible for P.E. licensing
  • Exceptional communication skills, including client relations, project team communications, and proposal and report development
