Position Overview: The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the processes required to secure FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval for compliant flight hardware. This position entails designing and refining manufacturing methodologies, coordinating inspections, and facilitating vendor qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate designs and substantiation documentation for FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval submissions.
  • Assist in the development of manufacturing processes for compliant flight components.
  • Coordinate initial article or conformity inspection activities with Quality Assurance, ODA, Technical Services, and management.
  • Define vendor substantiation criteria and aid in new vendor qualifications.
  • Address inquiries from QA and vendors regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing, and inspection techniques.
  • Engage in the evaluation of non-conforming materials, focusing on fit, function, safety, and reliability.
  • Complete Engineering Changes with necessary substantiation.
  • Provide support to clients and operators concerning products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-6 years of experience in aerospace or mechanical design is preferred.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., Pro-Engineer, Solidworks).
  • Proficient in mechanical drafting, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of aircraft components, controls, and interiors is advantageous.
  • Understanding of structural, thermal, and modal analysis of mechanical components.
  • Awareness of aerospace materials and conventional manufacturing practices.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and 3D CAD software.
  • Mathematical Skills: Capability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistics, and geometry.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to interpret technical instructions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with some exposure to a manufacturing environment and occasional travel to industrial sites.
