Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer III to join our team at Crossfire Consulting. As a key member of our Fluids team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for our pathfinding mission to the moon.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership to the team, supporting members in their roles and advising on technical approaches.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to complex problems, ensuring safe and repeatable space flight.
  • Mentor and train other team members to ensure the success of the project.
  • Work closely with internal and external suppliers to design, build, test, and analyze components for the Liquid Distribution Subsystem.
  • Plan and manage component schedules, identify and mitigate risks, and develop mitigation plans for hardware.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in fluids and mechanical systems/components, with a focus on aerospace systems.
  • Experience developing, integrating, and certifying aerospace systems for flight.
  • Experience with fluid/gas components, such as solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation.
  • Leadership experience, including leading small teams and subcontractor teams to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Familiarity with agile or waterfall project management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management, and verification.
  • Cryogenic fluids experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS preferred).
  • Experience with upper stages and spacecraft.
  • Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion and fluid system.
