Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Custodian to join our Maintenance and Custodial team at John Wood Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all college buildings and grounds.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Remove trash and recycling from designated areas and dispose of it appropriately.
  • Restock supplies such as soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and toilet tissue in restrooms and other areas.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Respond promptly to cleaning requests and other maintenance needs as required by college staff.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and special functions.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Support seasonal tasks including snow removal, salting sidewalks, and maintaining exterior areas.
  • Minor grounds keeping as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
