About the Role:

We are looking for a Support Specialist who can provide individualized support to clients with intellectual disabilities, helping them to build strong social skills and encourage independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide active care for designated clients, developing individualized approaches to client care.
  • Remain actively engaged with all clients, providing support with daily living skills, socialization, and other areas as needed.
  • Document major activities and supports provided for clients in daily notes, completing documentation in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Input documentation into Accel, including behavior, seizures, accidents/incidents, and progress on objectives.
  • Be able to use personal cell phone or company device as needed for time entry.
  • Responsibly pass or monitor medication administration based on client needs.
  • Drive/take clients to appointments, work, and other daily living activities.
  • Provide a safe environment for clients, planning and participating in special community-based activities.
  • Display patience in all situations involving clients, speaking in an even and positive tone of voice.
  • Respond appropriately to client behavior via verbal and/or physical intervention.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience working with clients with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong teamwork skills, and ability to obtain and maintain annual certification in CPR, First Aid, CPI, and Med Core A & B.
  • Proficient in word processing and computer operation, possess and maintain a clear criminal record, and valid Indiana driver's license with insurance.
