Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care and support in a physician's office setting.
- Accurately document all patient interactions and care in the medical records.
- Engage in telephone triage, collecting relevant clinical information and advising patients according to established protocols.
- Ensure all laboratory and diagnostic tests are properly tracked and communicated to the healthcare provider.
- Participate in pre-visit planning with the healthcare team to optimize patient care.
- Administer medications, including injections, and monitor vital signs.
- Assist in reviewing and updating patient medication histories.
- Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and CLIA compliance.
- Report patient conditions and responses to treatments effectively to the healthcare provider.
- Facilitate patient inquiries regarding prescriptions, appointments, and referrals.
- Participate in electronic documentation and may enter orders in the electronic medical record system.
- Conduct CLIA-approved laboratory tests and maintain quality control for in-office procedures.
- Perform venipuncture and assist in specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Provide patients with a detailed summary of their visit upon discharge.
- Manage vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Physical Requirements
This role requires physical stamina, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 35 pounds. Candidates must possess intact senses and manual dexterity.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the relevant state and have graduated from an accredited practical nursing program. Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, along with current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
