Job Title: Adult Educator - Career Bridges

City Colleges of Chicago is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adult Educator - Career Bridges to join our team. As an Adult Educator - Career Bridges, you will be responsible for providing instruction to our Career Bridge students, a specialty subpopulation of Adult Education students.

Job Summary:

The Adult Educator - Career Bridges will work a part-time schedule and be responsible for facilitating a high school equivalency (GED) Math, Language Arts, and/or Career and Technical Training support curriculum while also helping students build background knowledge, skills, and vocabulary in the specific career pathways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides Language Arts, Math, and/or Career and Technical Training support instruction, contextualized to the career pathway, that supports students in meeting the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for that course and preparing students for success in their next steps.
  • Uses CCC Adult Education core materials designed for each course, including those in the Learning Management System, such as Brightspace and/or My Open Math.
  • May customize instruction with supplemental materials, as appropriate.
  • Uses CCC Adult Education course master syllabus to customize syllabus for each class.
  • Shares and discusses syllabi with students to ensure understanding of course expectations.
  • Conducts formal and informal assessments to measure student progress toward SLOs and adjusts instruction based on ongoing student assessments.
  • Takes attendance, monitors class enrollment and retention, submits grades, and enters information into the appropriate student system in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with CCC staff to support Bridge students and ensure smooth operation of Bridge program.
  • Complies with ICCB professional development requirements, including completing 12 required PD hours each fiscal year.
  • Assists with program registration and orientation as requested.
  • Attends and participates in staff development and program staff meetings, as required.
  • Stays informed of campus resources and refers students to additional services as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of state and federal rules and regulations regarding Adult Education policies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required, preferably in Adult Education, Education, Elementary or Secondary Education, English Language Arts, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university preferred in a related subject, i.e. Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Educational Policy, Elementary or Secondary Education, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • International degree(s) evaluated by a certified provider.
  • Teaching and/or tutoring experience.
  • Credentials or work experience in the related Career and Technical training pathways trades is a plus, though not required.
  • Completion of satisfactory teaching demonstration for the hiring committee may be required at time of interview.
  • Completion of ICCB ESL Standards Proficient Instructor Training within one year of hire.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Some proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
Working Conditions:

This position is a part-time schedule and is responsible for providing instruction to our Career Bridge students. The Adult Educator - Career Bridges will work a flexible schedule and may be required to attend industry training and/or credit classes alongside students.
