Job Title: Highway Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Project Engineer to join our team at KCI Technologies, Inc. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting project teams in various tasks, including roadway alignments, guide rail and drainage design, maintenance of traffic design, signing and pavement marking plans, and preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design leader in the development of plans for transportation/roadway projects, providing guidance and supervision to junior engineers.
  • Coordinates with project managers while planning scheduling and coordinating design phase tasks related to project scope and deliverables.
  • Responsible for quality control, checking computations while reviewing design work and engineering drawings performed by others.
  • Analyze and address technical problems, which may involve conventional engineering practice, but also may require innovative solutions with unique approaches.
  • Candidate must have worked on all phases of design and have been involved in industry-related services of a project.
  • Broad knowledge of current design policies/practices and the ability to effectively apply the knowledge to the design process.
  • Candidate must be reliable, committed to completing multiple tasks, have strong time management skills, and the willingness to mentor staff.
  • Solid understanding of and experience utilizing CADD software MicroStation or AutoCAD/Civil 3D is required. Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills are required.
  • Understanding of complex roadway geometry, intersection designs, and ADA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret design standards and specifications and make engineering decisions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Appropriate graduate-level work is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-9 years of professional experience.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
