Job Title: Child Development Teacher

Join the University of Florida Early Childhood Collaboratory at Baby Gator as a Child Development Teacher, where you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of young children. As a member of our diverse and family-oriented team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement engaging lesson plans, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in child development and early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and conducive learning environment that adheres to all licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Implement classroom rules and procedures to ensure an orderly environment, demonstrating respect and support of diversity in language, culture, and learning styles.
  • Supervise safety and educational learning while on field trips around the UF campus and the Gainesville community, and supervise, mentor, and delegate tasks to substitute teachers and volunteers.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to share children's progress and address any concerns, supporting and involving parents in their child's development and learning process.
  • Complete child assessments and summaries by observing and assessing each child's development and progress, using assessment results to tailor instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans that address social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas, ensuring lessons are developmentally appropriate, align with program goals and philosophy, and align with the Florida Early Learning Standards.
Requirements:
  • Associate's + 1 year of experience OR Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) related field and 2 years' experience in an early childhood or other educational setting.
