Overview:

UTHealth Houston stands as a premier institution dedicated to healthcare education, innovation, and excellence in patient care. We are currently seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our Neurosurgery – Neurotrauma team.

Position Details:

The Nurse Practitioner will work a schedule of 15 days per month from 6 am to 5 pm, including holiday and weekend coverage. This role is integral to a collaborative team that includes an attending physician, providing primary care for neurotrauma patients throughout their hospital journey.

Team Structure:

The team comprises 1-2 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) daily alongside an attending physician. Our Neurosciences department features one of the largest Neuroscience Intensive Care Units (NSICU) in the nation, renowned for its exceptional care of critically ill patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary care provider for neurotrauma patients, overseeing all aspects of their care from admission to discharge.
  • Utilize a strong foundation in evidence-based practice to ensure adherence to critical care protocols and maintain a safe environment for quality care.
  • Exhibit advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical competence, and sound judgment while maintaining professional communication and documentation standards.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or a Master's in Nursing with a completed post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program. This role requires conducting complex patient care procedures under the supervision of a physician, including independent rounding, medication management, and patient education.
