Mid-Level Telecommunications Designer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced mid-level telecommunications designer to join our team at SMMA. This role will be based in Cambridge and Providence offices, working on a variety of projects across the Boston area and beyond.

About the Role

This position involves assisting the Lead Telecommunications Designer in developing plans and specifications for diverse project types. The ideal candidate will possess a balance of technical, communication, and organizational skills, with a curious mind that thrives in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of the Lead Designer, develop comprehensive voice, data, security, and audio/visual designs.
  • Produce marked-up plans for revisions to AutoCAD and Revit drawings.
  • Create customized details tailored to each project's unique requirements.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals and performing punch lists.
  • Engage in technical discussions with project leads or as part of a project team meeting.
  • Review plans with all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated construction documents.
Requirements
  • A minimum 5-10 years of experience in designing low-voltage systems using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of communications cable infrastructure, equipment, and applications.
  • Eagerly pursuing or possessing Registered Communications Distribution Design (RCDD) certification.
  • Familiarity with applicable telecommunications standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA and BICSI).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
