Position Overview

Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital is in search of a proficient Pharmacy Operations Supervisor to bolster our expanding team during Evenings, Overnights, and Weekends.

Experience in a Pediatric Hospital environment is highly preferred, with residency training being an advantage.

This role will act as a leadership presence during off-shift hours for the TMC Pharmacy, rotating through Evenings, Overnights, and every other Weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

The ideal candidate will possess Pharmacy Supervisory or PIC experience in an acute care environment, with a proven track record of leading substantial teams.

This position entails overseeing designated Pharmacy department personnel, managing the filling and labeling of prescriptions, and providing drug-related information to both inpatients and outpatients. The candidate must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver care appropriate to the patient population served, as well as an understanding of growth and development principles across various life stages.Key Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Pharmacist license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Certification in Pharmacy Sterile Products through an accredited program or in-house training is required.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of pharmacy experience is required, including at least two (2) years as a hospital pharmacist.
  • Prior experience in pharmacy management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of unit dose and IV additives is essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare personnel associated with the Pharmacy department; adeptness in applying personnel policies and procedures; strong customer service capabilities; and the ability to develop and direct Pharmacy clinical and educational initiatives.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy and hospital computer systems, as well as familiarity with the healthcare reimbursement landscape, is required.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Supervises and manages the activities of all department employees in consultation with the department director, assuming responsibility in the director's absence.
  • Handles the filling and labeling of prescriptions, ensuring drug-related information is provided to inpatients and outpatients based on their needs and age.
  • Dispenses controlled substances and supplies to nursing departments; conducts inventory management and maintains accurate inventory records; oversees the scheduling and preparation of IV solutions and additives; complies with state and federal pharmacy regulations, maintaining necessary records.
  • Maintains medication profiles and reviews them for potential drug-related issues.
  • Represents the department at organizational meetings upon the director's request.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing resources effectively, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
  • Encourages individual professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education, supporting department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
