Position Overview
The Pharmacy Utilization Clinical Supervisor will manage the effective and efficient application of pharmaceuticals within the Pharmacy Division.

The primary objective of this role is to enhance the quality of care, cost-efficiency, and clinical outcomes through the utilization of approved medications on the formulary, ensuring adherence to evidence-based utilization management practices.

This individual will conduct thorough utilization assessments on selected formulary-approved medications, analyzing purchasing and prescribing patterns to guarantee evidence-based usage throughout the healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
- Link utilization directly to patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with the formulary team, patient financial services, high-cost committee, and the utilization committee to promote financial stewardship by identifying opportunities for evidence-based cost-effective utilization.
- Work alongside pharmacy, physician, nursing, and informatics stakeholders to coordinate efforts aimed at reducing unnecessary drug expenditures by monitoring medication usage and correlating it with clinical outcomes for patients across the healthcare system.

Ultimately, the supervisor is responsible for ensuring optimal drug utilization and demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of medications approved by the organizational pharmacy and therapeutics committee.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy
- Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- ASHP Residency Training PGY1 and/or PGY-2 or HSPAL (significant prior work experience may be considered as an exception).

Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Pharmacist with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Completion of Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) Residency.

Work Experience:

- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, or two (2) years with completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency, or completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency.


Management Experience:

- At least three (3) years of management experience in pharmacy, with a preference for experience in managed care pharmacy, health plan benefits, and/or health-system pharmacy administration.


Communication Skills:
- Exceptional verbal communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in writing correspondence and reports.

Proficiencies:
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Job Attributes:
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong analytical skills, design capabilities, mathematical proficiency, understanding of medical terminology, clinical metrics, patient outcomes, research skills, statistical analysis, and pharmacoeconomic analysis.

Work Schedule:
