Position Overview:

The State of Arizona is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the management and implementation of health programs. This role involves interpreting federal and state regulations, developing policies, and ensuring compliance across various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret federal and state guidelines to formulate policies and operational procedures for statewide application.
  • Collaborate with the management team to review and update the WIC Scope of Work annually, ensuring alignment with procurement standards.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and authorize grant proposals, including action plans for service delivery and budget justifications.
  • Lead the planning, design, execution, and assessment of special projects and grants in partnership with local agency contractors.
  • Serve as the primary contact for organizing and facilitating WIC contract and finance training sessions.
  • Engage with the public to provide high-quality customer service to participants and those eligible for services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information and adhere to the Arizona WIC Program Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Distribute food benefits in accordance with assigned WIC food packages while ensuring quality standards.
  • Assist in federal management reviews and state evaluations of local agencies as needed.
  • Design and implement ongoing training programs and maintain effective communication with local agency contractors.
  • Plan and coordinate statewide, regional, and local training sessions and conferences focused on nutrition and health education.
  • Provide oversight for contracts and manage CER submissions, including processing and tracking.
  • Support the Nutrition, Breastfeeding, and Training team with various operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to the position.

Work Environment:

This position offers the flexibility of remote work within Arizona, depending on departmental needs and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in federal nutrition programs, such as WIC, is essential.
  • A Master's degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field is preferred and may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Experience in finance and contract management is desired.
