Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Lead Scientist to enhance our capabilities in protein purification, drug conjugation, and analytical methodologies at Pearl Bio. This role will involve overseeing protein production and characterization, significantly contributing to the innovation and development of programmable biologics within our research pipeline. This is a unique opportunity to be a vital member of a team that is pushing the boundaries of synthetic biology and biotherapeutics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and optimization of protein purification techniques and analytical methods, including but not limited to Affinity, SEC, IEX, HPLC, HIC, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA.
- Utilize AKTA chromatography systems to ensure high-quality protein characterization.
- Employ mass spectrometry techniques (orbitrap, QTOF) for intact mass spectrometry and peptide mapping/sequencing of recombinant proteins.
- Conduct developability studies for protein therapeutics, utilizing biophysical techniques such as DSC, DSF, CD, SPR, BLI, cIEF, and CE-SDS.
- Apply knowledge of bacterial and mammalian expression systems, molecular biology, DNA synthesis, cloning, and gel electrophoresis.
- Engage in computational protein modeling and design, including molecular dynamics and docking simulations.
- Analyze data effectively, manage electronic lab notebooks, and mentor junior scientists.
- Communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, prioritizing tasks and managing projects efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or an M.S. with 8-10 years of industry experience.
- Proven expertise in protein purification and analytical techniques.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience in mentoring.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
