Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate, clean, package, sterilize, store, and distribute medical equipment and instruments in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including steam sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, and automated endoscope reprocessors.
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper function and sterility.
  • Prepare and assemble surgical instrument sets and other medical equipment for use in operating rooms.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment processing and sterilization.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure timely delivery of processed equipment and instruments.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technician in an acute hospital setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program or Surgical Technician program preferred.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician or Registered Central Service Technician is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment and instruments as needed.
