Job Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Management Intern to join our Community Development Group in Minnesota. As a Construction Management Intern, you will work in a team environment, gaining practical on-the-job experience and exposure to community development projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with completing the civil component of various projects in a dynamic design team setting.
  • Perform construction observation to ensure project compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
  • Document construction activities, measure materials, witness materials testing, review shop drawings, and provide general project oversight.
  • Complete detailed reports as required.
  • Assist with construction surveying/staking as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of basic AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and general surveying.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interest in serving municipalities with their infrastructure needs.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and work independently.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain.
  • Must have a reliable transportation to go to and from job sites, good driving record, and valid driver's license.
Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil engineering, structural engineering, construction engineering, construction management GIS/Survey, or related field from a post-secondary institution.

Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: civil engineering planning, design, construction, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental science, surveying and construction management.

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk.
