Title: Family Medicine Physician/DO

FLSA Category: Exempt

Reports To: Chief Medical Officer

Job Summary:

The Family Medicine Physician/DO at Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. is tasked with delivering direct healthcare services and consultations for adult patients aged 18 and older. This role involves managing a patient panel while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care. The Physician/DO will facilitate referrals for medical management and care coordination, ensuring timely follow-up on specialty referrals and diagnostic assessments. The focus is on achieving and surpassing quality care benchmarks as established by the organization.

Essential Functions:
  1. Conducts thorough physical evaluations of adult patients and assesses the effectiveness of care provided.
  2. Prescribes or suggests treatment modalities including pharmaceutical therapies, physical rehabilitation, and other therapeutic interventions.
  3. Ensures high standards of patient care by engaging in performance and quality improvement initiatives.
  4. Orders immunizations in accordance with current guidelines from recognized health authorities.
  5. Participates in training related to vaccine management and storage.
  6. Coordinates referrals and consultations, collaborating with specialists regarding patient treatment plans.
  7. Establishes medical diagnoses for common acute and chronic health conditions.
  8. Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory and diagnostic evaluations.
  9. Implements diagnostic, therapeutic, and corrective actions, including medication prescriptions.
  10. Provides immediate care as necessary.
  11. Refers patients to appropriate healthcare providers as required.
  12. May consult with specialists or direct patients to specialized health resources.
  13. Delivers direct patient care as needed, aligning with the organization's mission and values.
  14. Documents clinical care provided in a timely manner, maintaining patient records according to clinic protocols.
  15. Adheres to regulations regarding consultations and services as dictated by insurance coverage.
  16. Complies with standards set by regulatory bodies for ambulatory care.
  17. Follows guidelines for Patient-Centered Medical Home standards.
  18. Maintains timely and accurate entries in the Electronic Health Record.
  19. Completes documentation promptly as per company policy.
  20. Meets the organization's training and risk management requirements.
Nonessential Functions:
  1. Provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource for team members and the community.
  2. Offers clinical supervision to nurse practitioners in the clinic as appropriate.
  3. Collaborates with Center Managers to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  4. Participates in compliance review activities.
  5. Submits necessary information for credentialing in a timely manner.
  6. Assists the Safety Officer with employee health initiatives when necessary.
  7. Engages in team meetings and professional development workshops.
  8. Performs additional duties as required to optimize patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Valid medical license to practice in the State of Maryland.
  2. Current prescriber number and DEA/CDS licenses.
  3. DO license certification accepted.
  4. Board certification or eligibility in family medicine/primary care specialty; certification expected within one year of employment.
  5. Insurability for malpractice.
  6. Current CPR certification.
  7. ACLS or Advanced Life Support certification within 12 months of employment, if applicable.

Working Conditions: This position operates in an outpatient office setting.
  1. Must accept and adapt to assignments at various sites and schedules.

  4. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and other medical office conditions.
  5. May require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  1. Ability to manage stress effectively.
  2. Occasional mobility within the office environment.
  3. Frequent use of office equipment such as computers and printers.
  4. Regular communication with patients and staff, requiring accurate information exchange.
  5. Ability to lift or assist patients weighing over 50 pounds in emergencies.
  6. Ability to adjust priorities quickly based on changing circumstances.
  7. Ability to perceive auditory cues and communicate effectively.
  8. Cognitive ability to analyze and synthesize information from various sources.

  • This position requires adherence to Greater Baden Medical Services' compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct and policies.
Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions. Effective communication skills with patients and stakeholders. Bi-Lingual in Spanish is a Plus.

Travel:

Must be able to travel between Greater Baden Medical Services locations.
