Position Overview

The IT Specialist role is responsible for the installation, modification, and minor repair of personal computer hardware and software systems. This position provides technical guidance and support to users, ensuring that IT and network infrastructure needs are met. Duties include diagnosing computer issues, monitoring processing systems, installing software, and conducting tests on computer equipment and applications. The IT Specialist will also oversee the creation of employee email accounts, assist with email implementation, manage computer-related issues, and train staff on software usage. Furthermore, this role involves recommending and drafting security protocols, monitoring security systems, and performing tests on security-related equipment and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitate the efficient operation of the IT department in accordance with the organization's business goals.
  2. Plan, coordinate, and report on Disaster Recovery strategies.
  3. Serve as a liaison to various teams, applying a structured approach to technology solutions.
  4. Direct and manage IT-related activities, providing administrative support for daily operations.
  5. Identify and procure necessary hardware and software to meet user needs.
  6. Oversee end-user services, including help desk and technical support.
  7. Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications and office automation equipment.
  8. Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers.
  9. Install hardware components such as monitors, keyboards, and printers.
  10. Load software packages, including operating systems and office applications.
  11. Assist in customizing existing programs to meet user requirements.
  12. Provide support to end-users through various communication channels.
  13. Coordinate with network services and information systems teams.
  14. Communicate updates and status information to management and users.
  15. Refer significant hardware issues to appropriate service personnel.
  16. Connect users to networks and provide initial training on systems and applications.
  17. Administer email and antivirus systems.
  18. Rotate backup media daily.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in IT or Business Systems.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant IT experience.
  • Industry certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong IT, communication, leadership, and management skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain IT structural integrity.
  • Availability for extended deployments.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, with occasional overnight travel and public speaking engagements. Regular computer work is required, and the role may involve standing, walking, sitting, and handling equipment. The employee may need to lift up to 20 pounds.
