Job Summary

The Physician and Surgeon, Correctional Facility provides medical care to patients in a correctional facility under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility. The ideal candidate will possess a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform medical assessments and provide medical treatment on assigned patients as appropriate and as authorized by the medical license.
  • Provide clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff and instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols and adhere to professional medical standards of care.
  • Be assigned on call duties.

Requirements

  • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
  • Possession of a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board.

Working Conditions

Travel is required.
