Job Summary:
This exciting role involves overseeing product safety and field return operations for the Residential Air Conditioning team at Midea America. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in R&D and product safety within the consumer products/appliances/HVAC sectors. Responsibilities include collaborating with R&D teams on product safety, conducting field surveillance, and adhering to safety regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Investigate Safety Allegations: Conduct thorough investigations into safety allegations from various sources, including customer complaints and field reports.
- Enhance Safety Database System: Develop and maintain a robust database system to track safety reports effectively, ensuring timely and accurate data analysis.
- Establish Field Return Lab: Set up a field return lab for investigating product safety issues, including conducting testing and analysis to identify root causes.
- Collaborate with Quality Teams: Work closely with quality teams to coordinate lab evaluations and ensure compliance with safety regulatory standards.
- Engage with External Investigators: Collaborate with external investigators on property damage cases, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
- Travel for On-Site Investigations: Travel as necessary to conduct on-site investigations and gather data.
- Summarize Findings: Regularly summarize findings and provide recommendations for future product development.
- Provide Feedback to R&D: Offer feedback to R&D teams on product design and development to ensure safety and compliance.
- Lead Safety Training: Develop and lead safety training programs for the engineering team, ensuring they are equipped to identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Mentor Peers: Mentor peers on safety best practices and provide guidance on safety protocols.
- Manage Stakeholder Communication: Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Stay Updated on Safety Regulations: Stay up-to-date on safety regulations and ensure compliance in product design.
- Conduct Testing: Conduct testing in the lab as needed to ensure product safety and compliance.
- Maintain Global Communication: Maintain effective communication with global teams to ensure seamless collaboration and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering: A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
- 5-7 Years' Experience in Engineering: At least 5-7 years of experience in engineering, preferably in the consumer products/appliances/HVAC sectors.
- Experience in Electronics/Appliances/HVAC: Experience in electronics, appliances, and HVAC is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Product Failure Modes: Knowledge of product failure modes and safety regulatory standards is essential.
- Previous Experience with Testing and Regulations: Previous experience with testing and regulations is highly desirable.
- Goal-Oriented and Organized: A goal-oriented and organized individual with strong communication skills is required.
- Ability to Work in a Team: Ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.
- Self-Motivated: Self-motivated and proactive individual with a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering: A master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is highly desirable.
- Previous Safety Experience in Relevant Sectors: Previous safety experience in relevant sectors is highly desirable.
- Certifications in Fire Investigation and EPA 608: Certifications in fire investigation and EPA 608 are highly desirable.
- History of Global Collaboration: A history of global collaboration and experience working in a multinational environment is highly desirable.
