Position Summary:

The school is in search of a skilled swim coach who is actively engaged in the community and devoted to upholding the school's mission. This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics, with responsibilities that align with the seasonal requirements of the assigned sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct effective training sessions from October to February.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to both team members and their families.
  • Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback, balancing critique with encouragement and motivation.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in participants' performances and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Tailor coaching methods to meet the diverse needs and interests of individual athletes or groups.
  • Encourage skill development, knowledge acquisition, and technique enhancement among participants.
  • Ensure all training and performance activities adhere to high standards of health and safety.
  • Foster confidence and self-esteem in all participants.
  • Enhance understanding of fitness, injury prevention, sports psychology, nutrition, and sports science.
  • Serve as a role model, earning the respect and trust of students and colleagues.
  • Maintain high legal and ethical standards, particularly regarding child safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
  • Create personalized training regimens for participants.
  • Keep detailed records of athlete performance.
  • Coordinate athlete attendance at meetings and competitions.
  • Design and implement activity programs for individuals and groups.
  • Identify suitable competitions for participants.
  • Organize and schedule training sessions and meets.

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching or athletic experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude towards students, staff, and faculty.
