Sanitation Services Associate I

Job Summary

PeaceHealth is in search of a Sanitation Services Associate I for a Per Diem/Relief, Night role. The hourly wage begins at $14.17, with potential for higher compensation based on experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role entails the thorough cleaning and sanitization of designated areas, including rooms, floors, fixtures, and furnishings, adhering to established protocols and guidelines. Additional responsibilities include various housekeeping tasks such as restocking supplies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure cleanliness and disinfection of assigned spaces in accordance with departmental standards. This includes tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, washing walls, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures, emptying waste receptacles, restocking supplies, and preparing beds.
  • May assist in arranging furniture in meeting spaces.
  • Maintain the housekeeping cart, replenish paper receptacles, replace sharps containers, and order necessary supplies. Properly clean and store equipment.
  • Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests or housekeeping needs.
  • In clinical settings, coordinate with clinical staff to prioritize cleaning tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

At least one year of formal housekeeping experience is preferred, particularly in a healthcare environment.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

A valid driver's license may be required depending on the assigned facility.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Basic verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently without direct oversight.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires moderate physical exertion, including prolonged standing for a significant portion of the workday. The ability to lift objects weighing up to 80 lbs. is necessary. The role may involve frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation, or sharp instruments, as well as potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Hazards may include contact with cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, soiled linens, and biohazards.

Attention to detail is crucial, as is the ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, and there may be multiple openings available.
