About the Role

PepGen is a clinical-stage biotechnology company seeking an experienced Senior Director to lead its Patient Advocacy program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategic advocacy projects and activities to support PepGen's mission.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of scientific and mechanistic aspects of drug discovery, nonclinical and clinical research, and development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with patient communities, advocacy groups, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead advocacy strategy to ensure that all PepGen programs are focused on the needs and preferences of patient communities.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with patient communities and advocacy groups in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1, as well as future indications.
  • Lead the advocacy team to ensure community input at all stages of development, communicate PepGen's mission and data effectively, and develop internal and external-facing publications and materials.
  • Engage with advocacy and patient communities to establish PepGen as a key partner in community-led initiatives and collaborative projects.
  • Mentor and develop other members of the advocacy team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (Public Health, Genetics, Biology, Chemistry) with 8-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, non-profit advocacy group, or equivalent.
  • Experience in rare disease advocacy and clinical development, particularly in neuromuscular diseases and pediatric populations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of scientific and mechanistic aspects of drug discovery, nonclinical and clinical research, and development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare materials and present updates to both community members and expert audiences.
  • Genuine compassion for patient communities and awareness of local and global compliance regulations.
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, anticipate needs from team members and cross-functional departments, and balance multiple priorities to execute projects and deliverables.
