Job Title: Experienced Design Engineer

Eastern Research Group (ERG) is seeking an experienced design engineer to join our team. As a design engineer, you will be responsible for developing civil designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop requirements and technical review of design packages
  • Prepare design packages, including civil engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable building codes and regulations
  • Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects
  • Support design process from concept through delivery of completed design package
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or the basis of design
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to, and external to, the design team
  • Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on some assigned projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years experience required, 10+ years is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred, but not required
  • Proficient at completing facility design services and supporting the review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes
  • Experience reviewing facility designs for compliance with processes and permitting those designs through construction
  • Experience evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies
  • Experience designing and maintaining the physical infrastructure of a lab environment
  • Knowledge of civil and environmental compliance within an energetic manufacturing environment, including completing facility design services
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), NFPA, ANSI, ASCE, and civil and environmental systems industry standards
