Position Overview:
The Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing a comprehensive fleet maintenance strategy to ensure that all vehicles are serviced in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and daily support to maintenance staff.
- Manage the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and minor repairs of transit service vehicles.
- Organize and prioritize team workloads based on preventative maintenance schedules, while considering budgetary constraints and personnel availability.
- Develop and maintain a vehicle tracking system and fleet maintenance portfolio to optimize cost efficiency.
- Ensure all vehicle documentation, including registration and insurance, is up-to-date and stored in the vehicles as required.
- Monitor and report weekly on maintenance issues and potential risks to upper management.
- Review driver records to promote safe driving practices and identify safety concerns.
- Train drivers and maintenance personnel on proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection protocols, including the completion of Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Assess DVIRs for accuracy and address any noted issues.

Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with local repair vendors to ensure cost-effective repair and service options.

Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and FTA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and professional working environment in the shop or facility.
- Report any incidents, spills, or falls to management as necessary.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
- At least five (5) years of automotive mechanical experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a journey-level mechanic role.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience overseeing a team of ten (10) or more mechanics.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is preferred, with at least one (1) year required.
- Previous management experience in fleet maintenance is essential.
- A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience in hands-on training is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of safety and training protocols.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and timeliness.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality.
