Job Title: Technical Assistant

We are currently seeking a Technical Assistant to join our Pittsburgh Construction Management Team for primarily PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
Requirements:
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Active driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
