Job Summary:

The S&S Truck Parts Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for aligning business objectives with teammates and management in designated business units. The role will have generalist responsibilities, however, will have a heavy emphasis on the recruiting front. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and teammates that reflects the business objectives of the organization and will be responsible for vetting out top talent. The Human Resources Generalist maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and screen top talent for the organization.
  • Coordinate face-to-face interviews for management.
  • Represent the company at job fairs and networking events.
  • Conduct background screenings and employment history verifications.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires and departing employees.
  • Collaborate with management to identify hiring needs and develop strategies to meet them.
  • Conduct regular meetings with business units to discuss HR-related matters.
  • Provide HR guidance and support to management and employees.
  • Analyze HR trends and metrics to develop solutions and improve processes.
  • Manage complex employee relations issues and conduct thorough investigations.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal requirements related to employee management and ensure compliance.
  • Provide performance management guidance to management, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Work with management and employees to improve work relationships, morale, and productivity.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to business unit restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Identify training needs for business units and participate in the evaluation of training programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or human resources.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in human resources, with a strong knowledge of multiple HR disciplines.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days per week in the Schaumburg office, with up to 25% travel.
