Job Overview

PRIMARY ROLE: The individual is tasked with ensuring the secure transit of clients within the Adult Day Health Care program, Social Adult Day Care, and various medical and recreational transport services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operate a range of transportation vehicles, including cars, trucks, and vans, prioritizing safety at all times.
  2. Report directly to the Transportation Team Leader.
  3. Practice defensive driving, adhering to all safety signage and adapting to traffic and road conditions.
  4. Assist clients and their families in safely boarding and disembarking from vehicles, ensuring a secure journey.
  5. Maintain a professional appearance by wearing the designated uniform.
  6. Plan the most efficient routes based on driving directions.
  7. Follow established routes for scheduled services and adjust as necessary for new clients.
  8. Provide transportation for special events and appointments as required.
  9. Fuel vehicles as needed.
  10. Clean both the interior and exterior of the vehicles as assigned.
  11. Transport vehicles to and from maintenance facilities as directed.
  12. Respond promptly to accidents or medical emergencies, notifying the appropriate personnel.
  13. Keep accurate records as mandated.
  14. Alert the Team Leader if additional transport coverage is necessary.
  15. Inform the Team Leader of any vehicle issues that require immediate attention.
  16. Possess a valid New York state driver's license in good standing, meeting insurance criteria.
  17. Provide a New York State DMV driver’s abstract as required.
  18. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Transportation Team Leader or Manager.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role involves standing, bending, driving, and walking for extended periods. Good eyesight is essential for safe vehicle operation, and the ability to assist individuals with mobility needs is necessary.
