About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our team at Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to infants, children, and adolescents in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform triage and nursing care to assess, promote, maintain, and restore pediatric patients' health and wellness.
  • Phone triage, including telephone encounters for each call, and greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Contact insurance companies to obtain necessary authorization for certain procedures and complete any necessary referrals and referral cover sheets for doctor approval.
  • Obtain brief summaries of patient complaints, complete chief complaints in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and read previous visits to obtain follow-up plans as needed.
  • Provide patient teaching when warranted, clean and stock exam rooms, and perform necessary vital signs on patients.
  • Maintain organization of cabinets above and below work areas, check to ensure patient histories are complete, and scan in necessary documents.
  • Assist doctors in necessary procedures, make patient calls as needed, and perform audiogram and stereopsis screenings as required.
  • Complete necessary documentation for patients, call hospitals to obtain necessary results, and keep a clean, safe, and organized work environment for patients and staff.
  • Attend necessary meetings to stay up-to-date on changes in protocol and procedures, work as a team with nursing and front office staff for optimal patient care, and assist doctors in emergency situations.
  • Rotate on the on-call calendar and perform other various duties as assigned, including cross-training in other functional areas.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure.
  • One year of work experience in a medical office setting, with computer proficiency highly desired.
