Job Title: IT Chief Data Scientist

This position is a key role in the New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) and is responsible for leading the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to support the agency's strategic goals.

Job Summary

The IT Chief Data Scientist will serve as the department's lead expert in statistics, data modeling, applied mathematics, quantitative research, and predictive modeling. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, business acumen, and experience in leading cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to support business decisions
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design and develop data analytics solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data science and analytics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders and technical teams
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related field
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and developing data-driven solutions
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages and statistical analysis tools
