Family Peer Specialist

As a valued member of the Fraser team, the Family Peer Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional client care. Collaborating with the client's treatment team, this role provides non-clinical family peer support, builds on the strengths of families, and helps them achieve desired outcomes. By providing skills, knowledge, and support, the Family Peer Specialist empowers families to strengthen their relationships and increase their child's ability to function better in the home, school, and community.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide family peer support to build on a family's strengths and help them achieve desired outcomes.
- Offer non-adversarial advocacy to a child and their family, promoting partnership and positive change.
- Support families in accessing culturally appropriate services for their child in each treatment setting.
- Promote resiliency, self-advocacy, and the development of natural supports.
- Establish and lead parent support groups.
- Assist parents in developing coping and problem-solving skills.
- Educate parents about mental illnesses and community resources, including connections with other parents who have similar experiences.
- Ensure timely documentation in accordance with regulations and Fraser's policies and procedures.
- Remote work with occasional on-site requirements.
- Starting hourly rate: $20.
- 10 hours per week, with flexibility to work 2-4 hours on Saturday mornings.
- High school diploma, HSED, GED, or equivalent required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- DHS-approved 'Certified Family Peer Specialist' certification.
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion, with a focus on culturally responsive practice and self-awareness.
- Must be a parent or caregiver of a child with a mental health diagnosis.
- Strong competency in navigating systems of care within children's mental health.
- Experience working in a telehealth setting is preferred.
- Ability to recognize problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
