PRIMARY OBJECTIVE


The primary objective of this role is to facilitate the provision of services and respond to inquiries from social service clients and the community within Solano County. This position will also assist in executing seasonal initiatives (such as holiday and summer camps) as directed by the supervisor.

The goal is to offer essential services and provide spiritual support to those in need.

Most activities will be conducted daily, with availability for emergency response during disasters and similar urgent situations.

This role will also engage in seasonal fundraising efforts, volunteer recruitment, and collaboration with local community organizations and support agencies (e.g., Food Bank, USDA, Reach, etc.).

Service delivery will be executed in alignment with the ethical standards, methods, and mission of The Salvation Army.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement daily social services programs following the welfare assistance guidelines set by the Corps Officer.
  • Oversee the REACH energy program in accordance with established protocols.
  • Represent The Salvation Army professionally at all times.
  • Actively seek appropriate grants that align with The Salvation Army's mission and community needs.
  • Develop additional services and programs that address community requirements.
  • Foster support from churches, community groups, and local service clubs.
  • Provide or direct clients to crisis counseling and intervention as necessary.
  • Ensure all client and statistical records are accurately maintained in a confidential filing system.
  • Input client information into The Salvation Army's database daily.
  • Record work hours daily and submit them bi-weekly for payroll processing.
  • Maintain volunteer records and other office documentation in compliance with Salvation Army procedures.
  • Ensure a nutritionally balanced supply of food and commodities is available.
  • Manage the emergency food pantry with assistance from volunteers, extending services to clients.
  • Maintain adequate food supplies and rotate inventory to minimize waste.
  • Follow all accounting procedures for financial and gift-in-kind matters as instructed.
  • Participate in all required training sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all Salvation Army property and equipment used.
  • Ensure safe operation of all equipment within the scope of duties.
  • Assist in the delivery and unloading of food supplies from vendors.
  • Report any repair or replacement needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Travel and assist at any of the corps within Solano County as required.
  • Forward all mail or incoming funds to the designated office.
  • Adhere to The Salvation Army's policies and procedures.
  • Support any special event functions as needed.
  • Introduce service recipients to spiritual program opportunities and church ministry.
  • Initiate prayer with individuals when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the overall success of the service offices and The Salvation Army.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalency.

Skills:
Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Capability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining composure under pressure.
Interview skills to assess client needs while respecting their dignity.
Proficient in necessary computer programs for daily tasks and effective communication via email, FAX, and telephone.
Awareness of cleanliness standards for business and food handling environments.
Ability to share a personal testimony of faith.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Must be 21 years or older.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Good mobility with the ability to bend and perform tasks requiring dexterity.
Ability to stand for extended periods or sit for short durations during office tasks.
