Position Overview

The Pingry School is seeking an enthusiastic and intellectually stimulating Senior Biology Educator to become a part of our diverse academic community for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate is dedicated to guiding students as they deepen their understanding of Science within a student-focused classroom setting. This educator values collaboration and recognizes the importance of addressing moral and ethical questions that arise in and outside the classroom. The preferred candidate will possess high standards, a commitment to personal and professional growth, and the ability to inspire others through positivity, selflessness, adaptability, and teamwork. With strong interpersonal skills, the selected individual will actively contribute to the school community by sharing their interests and engaging in additional roles such as advising students, coaching teams, leading clubs, or supervising extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructing three sections of Biology with Laboratory components.
  • Acting as an advisor to a group of students.
  • Collaborating across departments to develop and implement a Spring Intensive Course.
  • Mentoring an independent student research team as part of an additional requirement.
  • Completing any other duties as assigned by the Upper School Director.
  • Participating in all necessary meetings, including faculty division meetings, scheduled collaboration sessions, professional development days, and beginning and end-of-year meetings.
  • Engaging in all required professional development activities.
  • Providing additional support for students during designated flex and community times.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience in molecular biology research and laboratory techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to guide students in innovative independent research projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of core concepts in molecular biology and biochemistry.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching High School Science.
  • Appreciation for fostering a scientific mindset.
  • Proficiency in hands-on investigation and laboratory-based teaching methods.
  • Commitment to integrating science with other subjects in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Understanding of developmental milestones for Upper School students.
  • Experience in advising students.
  • Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Commitment to collaborative partnerships with a talented faculty team.
  • Ability to work with students in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Comfort with incorporating modern technology into educational practices, including various digital platforms.
  • Skilled in using Google Suite applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in fostering a culture of access and equity in education.
