Pharmacist - PRN Job Description

At City of Hope, we're committed to delivering the cures of tomorrow to those who need them today. As a Pharmacist - PRN, you'll play a vital role in our mission to provide patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy services in a decentralized and centralized practice setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret providers' orders for all medications, ensuring therapeutic incompatibilities and cost-effective medication use that complies with the COH Enterprise Formulary.
  • Assist with the monitoring of drug therapy, with an emphasis on chemotherapy, and provide and educate on drug information to providers and other clinical staff.
  • Oversee technician staff as it relates to sterile intravenous compounding, using centralized and decentralized medication-use systems, including chemotherapy and TPN, medication refilling, and unit dose drug preparations.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects with an emphasis on patient safety and engage in multi-disciplinary initiatives as requested.
  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator in educating and assessing various stakeholders, including pharmacy staff, providers, clinical staff, patients, caregivers, and pharmacy students.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Active license with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 year's institutional pharmacy experience or strong interest in institutional and oncology pharmacy.
