The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely medical records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, and providing exceptional customer service to residents, families, and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and manage resident medical records in a timely and accurate manner
  • Organize and direct the medical records department to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Assemble and review resident medical records as needed, ensuring all necessary information is included
  • Ensure the filing of all medical reports, doctors' and nurses' notes, x-rays, lab results, and other relevant documents
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect resident medical records in accordance with HIPAA standards
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as needed to ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; knowledge of medical terminology, coding, indexing, and legal aspects of health information preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience, with at least 2 years managing medical records and complying with HIPAA regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use computer databases for medical records
  • Knowledge of Point Click Care software a plus

Working Conditions:

  • May encounter frequent interruptions and be required to work beyond scheduled hours
  • May be involved with residents, families, and government agencies
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day and perform repetitive hand motions
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 15 feet

Per California state mandate, the COVID-19 vaccine is required for this position.
