This is a full-time, non-tenure track position in Chemistry in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences. The instructor will teach undergraduate-level courses related to Chemistry as needed by the Department, especially those in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The instructor will also assist with departmental activities and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate level Chemistry and related courses in a variety of instructional modalities.
  • Provide quality instruction to undergraduate courses as assigned by the department chair every semester and maintain office hours (a minimum of 10 hours per week) and attendance records.
  • Create, prepare, and supervise undergraduate laboratories and lab activities.
  • Facilitate effective student learning using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Use learning management systems to deliver relevant course materials and information to students.
  • Develop course objectives, assignments, and means of evaluating student performance for the course.
  • Provide prompt feedback on student assignments.
  • Meet students and respond to student questions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry (or a closely related field) or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours earned in Chemistry.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communicative skills and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching Chemistry lectures and laboratories at the undergraduate level.
  • Ability to create learning environments in which students can learn and thrive.
