Job Summary

This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background investigation consistent with the policy of the University System of Georgia.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teach a typical load of 12 semester-hours of undergraduate courses each semester in the area of political science in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Develop and design curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement.
  • Provide advisement and academic support to students as needed.
  • Maintain classes-related records and assess student coursework.
  • Collaborate and support colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum:
    • Requires a master's degree with 18 hours in Political Science or a related field.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level in a traditional classroom setting and/or online.
    • An established research interest to seek publications in refereed journals and other scholarly sources.
    • A commitment to student engagement and academic success.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, participate in departmental and university activities, and mentor students.
  • Preferred:
    • Earned Ph.D. in Political Science or a related area from an accredited institution.
    • Three or more years of experience teaching at the college or university level.
    • Ability to interactively engage students to develop their enhanced critical thinking.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with students at different capacity levels.
