Job Summary

The Campus Safety Officer Part Time position at Laramie County Community College is a part-time, non-benefited role that maintains the safety and security of people and property on campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting individuals in need, patrolling areas, and building positive relationships with the campus community and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and secure campus environment through collaboration with other campus safety officers and the Director of Residential Living and Learning.
  • Provide escorts and public assistance.
  • Proactively monitor for and address security breaches, facility hazards, and unauthorized persons.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders as necessary.
  • Maintain campus security through regular patrols and facility checks.
  • Safeguarding campus property.
  • Enforce campus policies.
  • Document activities through routine reports.
  • Engage with and contribute to the overall welfare and safety of the campus community.
Physical Demands
  • A variable work schedule may be required, including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use.
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree OR Two years of experience in law enforcement, customer service, or security role working in a diverse, multicultural community.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to be insured by the College's insurance provider.
  • Basic First aid/CPR/AED/Blood Borne Pathogens certifications or ability to obtain certifications within the first two months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five years of experience in a law enforcement, or customer service, or security role working in a diverse, multicultural community.
