The Advanced Product Development Section is driving innovation in the field of flight and advancing propulsion capabilities for the next generation of military applications. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Lead Engineer to contribute to the mechanical design and development of Edison Works New Product Introduction (NPI) as a Hardware Owner.
Key Responsibilities- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Develop and implement mechanical design solutions that meet product deliverables within schedule and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish boundary conditions, assess material and manufacturing capabilities, and conduct design trades to optimize across a range of requirements.
- Lead small projects with determined risks and resource requirements, and ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers, and demonstrate systems-thinking mentality to understand how work of one's team integrates with others to achieve product requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in a relevant engineering position.
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
- Current/existing US Government Security Clearance.
- Certification in or background with Material Review Board (MRB) engineering support.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, and program management skills.
- Demonstrated track record of ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS and 3D modeling software such as NX Unigraphics.
- Experience with structural component design.
- Experience with engine/aircraft maintainability and reliability.
- Experience with design quality assurance.
- Experience working with DoD customer and processes.
- Experience working in DoD EVM projects.
