Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Responder to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide critical support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, substance use issues, or other behavioral health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis assessment and management, as well as daily consultation with staff, clients, and other care organizations.
  • Collaborate with families, community members, tribal nations, schools, emergency services, and law enforcement to provide outreach and link care recipients to needed resources.
  • Develop and maintain recovery-oriented therapeutic relationships with individuals in crisis through ongoing assessment and stabilization efforts.
  • Provide in-person interventions, telehealth, phone triage, and support to clients in need of behavioral health services.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop person-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based safety planning.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in mental health, substance abuse, or a related field.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification.
  • UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit.
Working Conditions

This is a mobile position that requires travel to various work sites, including the hospital and community settings. The successful candidate will be credentialed by the UNMH Credentialing Committee and may be required to work in office, vehicles, or various community settings.
