Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Behavior Intervention Specialist. This role is responsible for providing behavior redirection and intervention programs at our school site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Behavior Redirection and Intervention: Develop and implement behavior redirection strategies to reduce the use of punishment techniques and promote learning.
  • Student Support: Guide students' behavior from inappropriate to appropriate, providing immediate and consistent interventions for students with inappropriate, disruptive behavior(s).
  • Collaboration and Communication: Meet with students, teachers, and families to develop written plans to improve inappropriate behavior(s) and provide a structured format to help students investigate their behavior.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and utilize district logs for all students served.
  • Professional Development: Attend required trainings annually, as determined by the Counseling Department, to enhance skills and knowledge in behavior redirection and intervention.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licensure: Licensure based on State Department of Education Regulation No. 90-5.
  • Experience: Experience with educational equipment preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education Assistant Experience: Experience working as an education assistant or in a related field.
  • Behavior Management Experience: Experience in behavior management and intervention.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and Organization: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
