As an intern at NBCUniversal, you will gain comprehensive exposure to our news operations within a structured and supportive framework. Interns will rotate through various departments, observing, learning, and actively engaging in the news production process.
Intern Responsibilities:
1. Engage in the daily editorial workflow: Participate in planning, researching, newsgathering, logging, writing, and editing.
2. Understand both editorial and technical components of news production.
3. Shadow experienced producers and assignment editors.
4. Develop individual news stories for personal demo reels and online platforms.
5. Participate in studio anchor sessions.
6. Assist with research on viewer calls and tips, contributing to the assignment desk.
7. Create opportunities for individual special projects.
Candidate Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- Currently pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution, with documentation available to verify progress.
- Must be a sophomore or higher (30 credits completed).
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
- Ability to work on-site.
Preferred Attributes:
- Previous internship experience or involvement in campus activities.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated interest in current affairs and relevant knowledge.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in research.
The hourly compensation for student interns is $17.50.
